Drug Impaired Driving
This fact sheet provides information on drug impaired drivers on our nation's highways, and how law enforcement officers are trained through the Drug Evaluation and Classification (DEC) Program in advanced detection techniques to remove these drivers from the road. Officers completing this program are certified as Drug Recognition Experts (DRE's). Thirty-two states currently use the DEC Program to train DRE's.
